This exhibition proposal encompasses a study on the importance of music in the work of Venancio Blanco and its relationship with space, color, and abstraction. Just as Wassily Kandinsky reveals to us in Concerning the Spiritual in Art the need for art to show its own intimate vision of reality, close to abstraction, in the work of Venancio Blanco we can perceive this relationship between creation and the intangible through music.
His pieces unfold in receding planes, silences that are sustained and lean on the voids of his bronzes, or colors that allude, in a synesthetic way, to cante hondo, to symphonies or to melodies that seem to resonate between past and present. Works built from gesture, color, and matter, where each form and surface acquires its own pulse and an internal rhythm.
In the same way that a Beethoven score harbors a codified musical language - a drawing of resonances and silences - Venancio's pieces shelter the notes of color and abstraction of all those melodies that accompanied his creative afternoons in the studio and that, surely, continued to resonate in his mind while he drew the dehesa or doodled his withered flowers. Each patina, each trace of mortar, seems to hold in memory the tension of a pause or the cadence of a suspended symphony.
