For Families
We suggest several activities to do if you come to the city as a family, with children:
For the little ones, we suggest two games:
-
"La Patrulla Renacuaja", a family game to get to know the city, proposing a cultural route where you overcome several challenges (you can purchase it at the Tourist Information Office for €0.50)
-
"Salamanca en detalles Kids", with which to discover the details of the rich facades of the city's monuments.
-
Monumenta Salmanticae, in the Church of San Millán, Veracruz street, where there is a Heritage Interpretation Center of the city with a large* model of the historic center* on which a video show is projected with simpler explanations for children and tactile monitors. There they can also find city information on touch screens, try on virtual reality glasses to learn about other visitable spaces of the city and the most fun: participate in an escape game. It is a game of observation and ingenuity to be performed in a team (with a minimum of 3 people and a maximum of 6), aimed at all audiences. An appointment must be booked at 628 05 24 90. But you can check out other fun games here.
-
Art Nouveau and Art Déco Museum; it contains a curious collection of porcelain dolls, automaton figures, and toys that children will love. It is also located in a modernist building with colorful stained glass windows.
-
Automotive History Museum, an exhibition space with more than 200 vehicles, documents, and accessories related to automobiles.
-
Collection of Gadgets to Fascinate displays various animation and projection systems in a fun visit where you can discover how a magic lantern or a zoetrope works. It is located at the Filmoteca de Castilla y León.
-
Museum of Commerce and Industry, where you can show them the inventions and innovations that once solved the problems of manufacturers, sellers, and consumers.
-
cathedral towers and the Clerecía
-
If you like archaeology, these are the spaces you should visit: the Interpretation Center of the Salamanca walls, next to it, a mysterious place, the Cueva de Salamanca; the Museum of Cerro de San Vicente, where the first inhabitants of the city settled; The Botanical Archaeological Park (there you will complete the guided tour with 3D glasses that will allow you to see a digital recreation of the space, to imagine what the buildings that stood there centuries ago were like). And finally, the Snow Well and the underground galleries.

The city's Contemporary Art Center, DA2, usually has exhibitions and workshops for the little ones ( consult).
Bike ride. The city can be comfortably visited on foot; for the more active, you can rent a bicycle. If the weather is good, head to the pier - which is between the iron bridge and the Roman bridge - to walk along the riverbank or take a boat ride on the Tormes, where one of the city's viewpoints is located.
West Quarter, a place where canvases are garage doors, shop shutters, walls, party walls, urban furniture. An Urban Gallery open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, which has created another scenario, another neighborhood, and another city, more artistic, more cultural. The Urban Gallery is a project that arises from the need to bring art to all audiences. You can take two tours of the Urban Gallery through its app. + info: https://www.galeriaurbanasalamanca.es
Salamanca Tourist Shop (under the City Hall clock), which features a fun line of merchandise inspired by the city of Salamanca: games, teddy bears, watches, balls, paints…
Thanks to its tourism strategy and its wide and varied offer, Salamanca has received the Family Tourism seal.
