METALÚRGICA DEL TORMES (II) AND THE MIRAT FAMILY ON AVENIDA DE LA ALDEHUELA, 1954-1981

In 1954, Metalúrgica del Tormes moved from Calzada de Medina to Avenida de la Aldehuela, becoming part of the S.A. Mirat complex.
Many Salamancans surely remember the building that housed the metallurgical factory, located opposite the old provincial prison -now DA2- until its demolition in the eighties of the last century.
María Ordoñez and Mark Zoder have been studying the history of Mirat for years, commissioned by the company. No one better than them to write the history of Metalúrgica del Tormes as part of S.A. Mirat. Currently, the company continues to generate electricity at the Villagonzalo hydroelectric power plant.
