THE CUARESMERA 2019
The 2019 image has been created by the illustrator Luis de Horna.
The calendar was hung in shops and homes to count the passage of the seven weeks of Lent, a period of fasting and abstinence from meat that precedes Holy Week.
The figure of the old woman with seven legs and the foods typical of the time of religious vigil, vegetables and fish, used to be produced in cardboard or wood.
In the windows of grocery stores, it was displayed to advertise the sale of salted cod.
