Benny Carter (1907-2003) was one of the most complete and influential figures in the history of Jazz and, especially, of the Big Band era. His career spanned more than seven decades, standing out not only as a virtuoso alto saxophonist and trumpeter, but also as one of the most sophisticated arrangers and composers in Jazz history.

The Barcelona Jazz Orchestra was founded in 1996 and, from its beginnings, aimed to become the first stable big band in the city of Barcelona.

Directed by trombonist Dani Alonso, the BJO combines tradition with modernity and new trends, with the aim of reaching all types of audiences. The orchestra's repertoire is very varied: from the great swing classics such as Count Basie, Benny Carter or Duke Ellington, to bebop tunes by Thad Jones and Dizzy Gillespie, passing through pop music geniuses, such as Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles.

In 2010, the BJO collaborated with the great Phil Woods on the recording of an album, "Our Man Benny" entirely dedicated to Benny Carter's Big Band music, an album that has today become a classic. Jesse Davis is part of the generation of artists initiated by the Marsalis family and other musicians from the great southern city of the USA. In his long career, Davis has worked with Jack McDuff, Phil Woods, Illinois Jacquet, Chico Hamilton, Junior Mance, Kenny Barron, Tete Montoliu, Cedar Walton, Benny Golson, Roy Hargrove, Hank Jones and a long list of other great names in the jazz scene.
